DELL PowerEdge T350 Server

Dell PowerEdge T350 overview

Dell PowerEdge T350 is a more capable single-socket tower server for SMB infrastructure, branch offices and local server rooms. It uses Intel Xeon E-2300 or Intel Pentium processors with DDR4 memory and offers more storage capacity than the entry-level T150. In the Dell PowerEdge 15G tower lineup, the T350 is the step up for companies that want a local tower server with more growth headroom.

The Dell T350 server is suitable for office applications, file services, backup, light virtualization, local databases, domain services and monitoring. It does not replace dual-socket tower or rack platforms for heavier workloads, but it can be a practical choice when a small business needs one physical server to support several local roles.

When to choose Dell PowerEdge T350

Choose Dell PowerEdge T350 when the T150 is too limited but a dual-socket tower such as T550 is unnecessary. It is a good fit for SMB infrastructure where the server may run file sharing, backup, directory services, monitoring, a local database and one or two small application workloads.

For light virtualization, the Dell PowerEdge T350 server can make sense if the number of VMs is small and RAM/storage are sized carefully. It is also useful in offices where a rack is not available, or where the server must be maintained locally by general IT staff.

For backup and file services, the T350’s LFF drive layout can be useful because capacity drives are often more economical for local retention. For heavy virtualization, large databases or multi-node clusters, compare with Dell PowerEdge T550 or a rack model such as Dell PowerEdge R450.

Chassis and drive bay options

The Servermall page lists the Dell T350 8LFF configuration. This gives the model a capacity-oriented tower profile.

Chassis option Best for Comment
Dell T350 8LFF SMB file services, backup and local capacity storage LFF bays are useful for larger HDDs and retention-focused workloads. SSD use should be checked for supported carriers and controller options.

Dell T350 8LFF is a good match when the server needs more local capacity than T150. It can support practical RAID layouts for file services and backup. For application performance, SSDs may be useful, but they must be planned with the correct carriers and controller. NVMe should not be assumed unless the exact build supports it.

Final drive compatibility depends on the selected backplane, storage controller and exact server configuration.

Recommended Dell PowerEdge T350 configurations by workload

Workload Recommended focus
SMB infrastructure Xeon E CPU, RAM for multiple services, reliable RAID storage and remote management.
File server Dell T350 8LFF with capacity HDDs, protected RAID and backup integration.
Local backup Large LFF drives, moderate CPU/RAM and network bandwidth sized for backup windows.
Light virtualization More RAM, SSD storage where supported and limited VM count.
Local database Higher-clock Xeon E option, RAM for cache and SSD storage where practical.
Branch office Redundant PSU where available, simple maintenance and clear recovery process.

The Dell T350 configuration should be chosen with growth in mind. It is often used as a multi-role office server, so memory and storage reserves are important.

How to choose CPU, RAM, RAID and storage

Xeon E processors are suitable for smaller business workloads, branch servers, basic applications and light virtualization. For a T350 that will host several roles, select a Xeon E processor rather than minimizing CPU cost. CPU and core count may affect software licensing for VMware, Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server and other commercial platforms.

RAM planning should reflect the multi-role nature of many T350 deployments. File services may not require much RAM, but local databases and small virtualization benefit from additional memory. For virtualization and databases, RAM is often more important than a small CPU upgrade.

Hardware RAID is appropriate for classic office server deployments with local arrays. HBA/JBOD mode can be used for ZFS or Proxmox/ZFS when the software layer manages disks, but the overall reliability model must be planned carefully. BOSS or boot SSD options, where available, can separate the OS or hypervisor from data storage.

For storage, LFF HDDs provide capacity for files and backups. SSDs are useful for operating systems, applications and databases where supported. NVMe should be selected only if the exact configuration allows it.

Dell PowerEdge T350 vs related Dell models

Model When to consider
Dell PowerEdge T150 Choose T150 for a simpler, lower-cost tower server with fewer storage needs.
Dell PowerEdge R350 Choose R350 when a compact 1U rack form factor is required for similar SMB workloads.
Dell PowerEdge T550 Choose T550 when the office or server room needs dual-socket compute and heavier workload capacity.

Dell PowerEdge T350 is the more capable single-socket tower option. It fits SMB infrastructure better than T150 when local capacity and growth headroom matter.

New and refurbished Dell PowerEdge T350 servers

A refurbished Dell T350 can be a rational choice for SMB production workloads when the server is tested, correctly configured and covered by warranty. It can be useful for file services, backup and branch office infrastructure.

New units may be preferable when procurement policy requires new hardware or when a business wants identical systems across multiple offices. Servermall offers EU delivery and warranty options; depending on the offer, Dell T350 new and refurbished servers may be available with a 5-year warranty. Confirm condition, drive layout, controller, PSU and warranty terms in the quote.

Summary: is Dell PowerEdge T350 the right server for your workload×

Dell PowerEdge T350 is a practical tower server for SMB infrastructure, backup, file services, light virtualization and local databases. Choose it when T150 is too limited but dual-socket hardware is not needed. Consider R350 for rack deployment or T550 for heavier tower workloads. Before purchase, confirm CPU, RAM, storage, RAID/HBA, network, PSU and warranty requirements.
