8 SFF-format NVMe bays: The term SFF identifies the 2.5-inch carrier format. In the XD670, these eight front bays are for U.2/U.3 NVMe SSDs and are not a SAS/SATA drive-bay topology.

NVMe-only storage architecture: The eight data bays support U.2 and U.3 NVMe SSDs. SAS and SATA drives are not supported in this front drive-bay layout; two M.2 RAID SSDs form a separate boot-storage subsystem.

HPE-validated storage and RAID path: Supported SSDs, backplanes, optional Broadcom MR controller, and cable kits must be selected as a validated XD670 configuration. RAID behavior and usable media combinations depend on the final factory-integrated design.

Separate boot storage: The eight front NVMe bays are dedicated to application and data storage. A separate pair of M.2 SSDs can provide RAID-protected boot media without consuming the front data bays.
