U.3 Tri-Mode drive support: Supported U.3 Tri-Mode backplanes can carry SAS, SATA, and U.3 NVMe drives. The exact drive set depends on the selected backplane, controller or direct-attach path, cabling, firmware, and HPE configuration rules.

Controller, direct attach, and RAID options: Depending on the selected cage, supported HPE MR or SR controllers can provide hardware RAID across SAS, SATA, and U.3 NVMe. Direct-attach SATA or NVMe paths are available only in the combinations explicitly validated by HPE.
