Defined drive-bay layout: Twelve front 3.5-inch LFF bays form the base storage basket. Any optional rear or mid-bay module is a separate platform option and is not included in this count.

Drive and backplane support: The basket is designed for validated SAS and SATA HDD/SSD media. Supported 2.5-inch drives may be installed in approved 3.5-inch hybrid carriers where the platform guide allows it. NVMe is not part of this LFF basket and, where offered by the platform, uses a different topology.

Dell PERC, HBA, and RAID options: Dell-validated PERC and HBA controllers provide hardware RAID or pass-through for SAS/SATA media; PERC S140 covers compatible SATA software RAID. The selected controller and cable set must match the backplane and required RAID level.

Serviceability and topology: The twelve front bays are hot-plug. An optional two-drive 3.5-inch rear cage is a separate validated module that changes the rear chassis layout and is not part of the base 12LFF basket.
