HPE Cray XD670 Gen11 8NVMe is a storage configuration with eight front-accessible 2.5-inch SFF bays dedicated to U.2/U.3 NVMe SSDs for a 5U GPU-accelerated AI and HPC system. It is designed for AI training, deep learning, accelerated analytics, and advanced HPC workloads that need high-throughput local flash storage.

Key features:

  • 8 front NVMe bays: Eight front-accessible 2.5-inch bays provide dense local flash storage close to the CPU and GPU resources. The supported media are HPE-validated U.2 or U.3 NVMe SSDs.

  • NVMe-only storage architecture: The eight data bays support U.2 and U.3 NVMe SSDs. SAS and SATA drives are not supported in this front drive-bay layout; two M.2 RAID SSDs form a separate boot-storage subsystem.

  • HPE-validated storage and RAID path: Supported SSDs, backplanes, optional Broadcom MR controller, and cable kits must be selected as a validated XD670 configuration. RAID behavior and usable media combinations depend on the final factory-integrated design.

  • Separate boot storage: The eight front NVMe bays are dedicated to application and data storage. A separate pair of M.2 SSDs can provide RAID-protected boot media without consuming the front data bays.

  • GPU-accelerated 5U platform: A dual-processor node with eight NVIDIA H100 or H200 SXM5 GPUs, DDR5 memory, PCIe Gen5 fabric connectivity, and air- or direct-liquid-cooling options places fast local storage next to demanding AI and HPC compute.
