Consistent U.3 backplane topology: The platform supports x1 and x4 U.3 Tri-Mode cage options for SAS, SATA, and U.3 NVMe media. On this server, x1 and x4 backplane kits must not be mixed in the same configuration.

Controller, direct attach, and RAID options: Depending on the selected cage, supported HPE MR or SR controllers can provide hardware RAID across SAS, SATA, and U.3 NVMe. Direct-attach SATA or NVMe paths are available only in the combinations explicitly validated by HPE.

Scalable 2U storage architecture: A second front 8SFF cage can raise the front count to sixteen. Separate mid-tray and rear options can increase the platform total further, but they are not part of this eight-bay basket.
