SAS/SATA SFF storage: The SFF cage supports validated 2.5-inch SAS and SATA HDD/SSD media. NVMe is not part of this SFF cage and, where available on the platform, uses a separate drive topology.

Controller-based SAS/SATA management: Embedded SATA or supported HPE storage controllers provide the required connectivity and RAID functions. SAS media and advanced hardware RAID require a matching controller and cable kit.

Expansion to 16 SFF drives: A second 8SFF hot-plug cage can increase the platform total from eight to sixteen SAS/SATA drives. The required OROC or PCIe controller cable depends on the selected controller.
