Defined drive-bay layout: Ten front 2.5-inch SFF positions use the full front storage area of the 1U chassis and provide higher drive density than the 8SFF layout.

Drive and backplane support: The 10SFF chassis supports SAS/SATA drives and validated configurations with up to four direct-attached NVMe drives. The exact bay protocol is determined by the ordered backplane, PCIe path, and cabling.

Dell PERC, HBA, and RAID options: SAS/SATA media use a supported PERC or HBA path, while NVMe uses the validated PCIe direct-attach/backplane path. The two data paths are configuration-specific and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Serviceability and topology: Front hot-plug carriers allow a supported drive to be replaced without shutting down the server when the operating system, RAID state, and Dell service procedure permit it. Optional BOSS boot media can remain separate from the data drives.
