Consistent U.3 backplane topology: The platform supports x1 and x4 U.3 Tri-Mode cage options for SAS, SATA, and U.3 NVMe media. On this server, x1 and x4 backplane kits must not be mixed in the same configuration.

Controller, direct attach, and RAID options: Depending on the selected cage, supported HPE MR or SR controllers can provide hardware RAID across SAS, SATA, and U.3 NVMe. Direct-attach SATA or NVMe paths are available only in the combinations explicitly validated by HPE.

Three-cage front topology: The 24SFF front layout uses three eight-bay cages. Separate 8SFF mid-tray and 2SFF rear options can increase the platform total to thirty-four drives when all HPE configuration rules are met.
